Sunday Sessions - Week 9 2012
When I first heard this song, I loved it! It had a great groove it gets me up and dancing around my house!
I could even go as far as it will make me do alot of housework to this tune
SHH Don't tell Drew.. or he might expect more housework to be done during the day!
Then I saw the video clip!!
I found out about the 'dancer in the song'
The quote from the band behind this song (courtesy of MTV) is
"There was supposed to be [a proper video for the song], but there is not. We shot a whole video here in Los Angeles about two months ago, but we didn't like it, so we scrapped the whole thing," drummer Patrick Carney explained, "Except for the footage of Derrick Tuggle dancing, which was a complete accident. ... He had an hour to listen to the song, and he memorized all the lyrics and he came up with the dance, and he basically did that on his own. And if we didn't have that footage, we would not have a video for the song."
One of the year's biggest viral hits, thanks mostly (if not entirely) to the dance stylings of actor/part-time security guard Derrick T. Tuggle, who, in one single take, shimmied his way through the song — and into Internet lore.
While doing a little research into the song
I found this version recorded live by Triple J!!
Now which version do you like better?
I prefer the original to dance too
but Matt Corby does make other peoples songs his own!! Makes you sit down and relax! Such a wonderful unique voice!
Todays music is brought to you by Thea's Sunday Sessions
It is a fabby way to find old/new/weird/wacky (Weird n wacky is usually from me) music that we've all forgotten or trying to get out of our head...
